Associate Solicitor

Jane qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and became a Director of Nowell Meller in 2008. Jane retired from her directorship in November 2025 but continues to provide support to the firm in a strategic capacity. 

Jane continues to mentor and supervise our Wills lawyers and can advise in relation to: 

  • Preparation of wills and trusts - including complex wills, disabled trust wills, tax efficient wills and settlements and the provision of general advice in relation to tax planning and asset protection
  • Administration of estates - including powers of attorney
  • Court of Protection matters - where Jane acts as Deputy for a number of our clients who are unable to deal with their own affairs

Clients: Jane is proud to have represented a cross section of society - from clients buying their first home, to investors building a portfolio; she is highly recommended to clients both in Staffordshire and throughout the UK and has a number of London based clients.

Jane's Approach: Janes passion is for the provision of dynamic, effective solutions for clients and excellent standards of service.  Jane has a warm and engaging personality; she finds solutions to problems and strives hard to meet client timescales; she believes keeping clients up to date empowers them and helps explain complex legal issues in easy to understand terms.  

Accreditations: Membership of the Law Society Property Section and Conveyancing Quality Scheme.

Personal Background: Jane was born in Staffordshire to a farming family and now lives in the Staffordshire countryside.

In her spare time, Jane is a keen recreational cyclist and in the past was a keen runner having completed two marathons - one at international level. 

She enjoys practicing yoga, walking and cycling.  Jane has a passion for travel whenever she is able, a keen interest in fashion and enjoys great food and wine.

Post Qualification: Having been qualified as a Solicitor in 1993, Jane has, from qualification, practiced as a private client specialist gaining wide experience in two Staffordshire firms before moving in 1997 to a large local practice in order to head up its combined private care team and Jane then became a partner of that firm in 2000.

Nowell Meller Journey: Jane joined Nowell Meller in January 2008 in order to manage and develop its longstanding private client practice based on two geographical sites.

Throughout her career Jane has been particularly keen to offer opportunity to develop young people coming into the profession and in addition to supervising the trainee Solicitors working within Nowell Meller and she acts a student mentor at the local university.
