Akua Appiah-Twum

Paralegal - Business & Commercial Property

Akua is a Paralegal in our Business & Commercial Property team, based in our Stafford office and works alongside Director, Adam Mayer and Trainee Solicitor David Bryan.

Akua’s Approach: Akua is friendly, calm, attentive, hard-working and always willing to go that extra mile and put the client’s needs as the upmost priority.

Qualifications: LLB Law Degree at Coventry University and obtained a 2:1 LLB Law Degree in 2018. CILEx Graduate Fast- Track Diploma at Coventry University College specialising in The Practice of Family Law and The Practice of Employment Law and completed this in June 2019.

Akua has lived in the West Midlands most of her life. In her free time, she enjoys visiting her local cinema, watching TV Dramas, going on walks at Baggeridge Country Park, the Clent Hills and hiking across the Malvern Hills, participating in Les Mills Classes at her local leisure centre including Zumba, Core Conditioning, Hatha Yoga, Swimming, Body Combat and Grit, listening to dance and deep house music, reading, cooking , baking, visiting art galleries, museums and cathedrals, spending time with family and spending time with her partner.

Qualifications: Akua left school in 2012 after completing her GCSE’s and went on to Halesowen College to study A-Level-s: English Literature, History, Sociology and Government & Politics. After passing A-Levels, in September 2015 she embarked on an LLB Law Degree at Coventry University and obtained a 2:1 LLB Law Degree in 2018.

In January 2019, after completing the LLB Law Degree she undertook the CILEx Graduate Fast- Track Diploma at Coventry University College specialising in The Practice of Family Law and The Practice of Employment Law and completed this in June 2019.

In July 2019, after a series of unsuccessful paralegal interviews since graduating university. She decided to advance her skillset and enhance confidence by training to become a primary school teacher. In September 2020 she undertook the Primary PG DipED (Advanced) General Primary Course at The University of Birmingham and was a primary school supply teacher for two years before obtaining her first Legal Assistant role in a law firm in a Conveyancing department in October 2022. In February 2024, she decided to experience a different area of law and became a Clinical Negligence Legal Secretary at FBC Manby Bowdler.

Nowell Meller Journey: In March 2026, Akua joined the firm as a Commercial Property Paralegal. Akua is excited for her journey here at Noweller Meller Solicitors and is looking forward to social events and getting to know her colleagues further. She is eager to re-visit  Commercial Property law again but at a more advanced level and is aspiring to become a Chartered Legal Executive by commencing 3 years of qualifying employment and submitting a work-based portfolio to CILEx regulations.
