Settlement Agreements

If an employer wants to end your employment, they may put forward a settlement agreement. This is essentially a contract between you and your employer which sets out the agreed terms of your employment ending.  

It is vital that you are given thorough and independent legal advice before deciding whether to enter into a settlement agreement.  Signing a settlement agreement will involve you waiving your right to bring certain claims against your employer and may impose strict confidentiality requirements or restrict your future employment.  Without expert independent advice you cannot make an informed decision.
