Different Ways of Paying for Your Case
There are a number of ways to fund injury and accident claims:
A) Conditional Fee Agreements
Conditional fees are a new way to pay for the services of a solicitor in certain types of cases. This page deals only with personal injury cases.
These arrangements are also known as NO WIN NO FEE agreements.
If you chose a Conditional Fee Agreement, the money you will have to pay your solicitor depends on whether you win or lose your case. If you win your case then your solicitor can charge their normal fees and an agreed extra percentage of their costs (known as a success fee). It is usual for the losing party to pay the winner's costs, and it may now be possible to claim the success fee from the losing party. If you lose your case then your solicitor receives no fees, but you may have to pay the other persons legal costs.
It is possible to buy an insurance policy to cover the other person's costs if you lose, and also the cost of the expenses incurred in pursuing a claim, for example medical fees.
When you enter into a Conditional Fee Agreement your solicitor will go through the agreement and make sure that you know what is expected of you, and your solicitor.
We can offer you a No Win, No Fee arrangement, if this is the most suitable way, for you, to fund your claim. Ask us about it when you come in for your FREE initial interview.
B) Insurance Policies
You may already be covered for legal costs in pursuing a claim under the terms of an existing insurance policy, e.g. motor, home or travel policies. Remember to check your policies, and bring them along when you come in to see us. It may still be possible for us to act for you.
C) Trade Unions
If you are a member of Trade union you may be entitled to legal representation, paid for by the Union. Ask your local representative, and bring in the details when you come to see us. It may still be possible for us to act for you.
D) Legal Aid
Legal Aid is now only available for a very limited range of personal injury cases. We will tell you if your claim falls into one of these categories.
