About the Mental Health and Disability Service

Nowell Meller provides:
The only publicly funded service for Mental Health representation and advocacy  in Mid and North Staffordshire.
A local, quality, efficient and caring service.
A Mental Health service that has been engaged in the representation of patients at Tribunals since 1983.

How and when to apply for a Managers Appeal or a Mental Health Review Tribunal
All other matters relating to your stay in Hospital
Your medication.

We are local and can get to you quickly - covering Staffordshire, Shropshire and the West Midlands
We have provided continuous mental health legal services in Staffordshire for 20 years
We provide a comprehensive service from start to finish of your detention, including Managers meetings to monitoring after care packages
We can provide a full, local and professional legal service, including help with wills, powers of attorney and family matters.

The Team:
Neil Robinson (Director) - Solicitor - The Head of the Department, is a Legal Chairman of the Mental Health Review Tribunal and a Member of the Law Society Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel.

Louise Salmon - Solicitor - Member of the Law Society Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel, generally undertakes representation. Louise has a developing expertise as a Mental Health specialist.

Nigel Dodd - Clerk. Nigel has considerable family law experience and now assists Louise with the work of the mental health team.



Tracey Fell - Personal Assistant - is responsible for co-ordinating much of the department's work, liaising with the Tribunal Office and Hospitals.

But we are also committed to providing a comprehensive legal service to all with disabilities, both in terms of safeguarding rights and dealing with property, wills and trusts.
